Harry Jong
Environmental Engineer, retired
Morrison, CO
I started my career at the Bureau of Reclamation 2 days after graduation
from South in 1959. I retired from the Bureau 6 years ago in 1997,
after 38 years of service with the government. My career, as
Environmental Engineer, was in design of infrastructures associated with
water, wastewater, hazardous wastes, and desalination projects. After
retirement, I have a second career, part-time, with the National Older
Workers Career Center (NOWCC), which is affiliated with the American
Association of Retired Persons (AARP), since 1997. The employees of
NOWCC, under a government grant program called Senior Environmental
Employment (SEE) Program, are consultants to the Enviromental Protection
Agency (EPA). Many of the SEE employees are working at Region 8, EPA,
in Denver.
This is a picture of me and my spouse Martha when I received my Fellow
status from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at the Third
Annual Outstanding Projects and Leadership Awards night in April 2002 in Los
Angeles.
