Edward H. Cope

"My class was 1940.  Soon after graduation,  we were scattered to the winds of W W II, and I have not lived in Denver since.
I attended the fiftieth, fifty-fifth and sixtieth class reunions.  I haven't created a website, but you are welcome to add me to yours.
When I entered the Army in 42, the powers that be insisted that I be known as Edward H. Cope, and so for almost 60 years I have been Ed Cope.
My wife of over fifty years is named Mary, a member of the DAR and Colonial Dames,  so I found it better to have our email reflect mostly her name. Hence the maryedco.
After over thirty years of service I retired and am living on Merritt Island, Florida which is very near the launch site of our space craft and rockets.
My best wishes and hope to hear from more grads."  Ed Cope

Good. Fortified by 10 mg of Inderal, I was awarded an Honorary Graduation Diploma from the Charles McLain Community High School of Jefferson County, Class of 2002, yesterday morning.

You may recall I lacked sufficient credit hours to be graduated from South High School in Denver back in 1941. I was graduated anyhow based upon a promise I would make up those hours in summer school that year. I didn't. World War II had something to do with it. So did my first job in radio.

In reply to your inquiry, I graduated in June 1942, immediately went to work for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co. where I worked for 11 months before being called-up for military service.  I spent on and off, ten years in the Marine Corps leaving as a Sergeant.  I retired from the equipment engineering department as an assistant manager in February 1983.  I'm married, and have been for fifty-six years.  We have five children, all grown.  I don't have a website as yet, not feeling the need for one.  Really, I had been resisting "ON-Line" status or anything to do with the "Net"  Strange too, since I have had a computer since Commodore 64 days  hmmm, is that years?  I still have one and have had the Amiga also!  Consequently I'm new at this "On-Line" thing having recently joined AOL.
I don't know of another 1942 grad at all.  My cousin Waldeen Anderson is deceased.  She is the only one I kept in contact with due to moving around in the servi
ce.  So, am interested in contacting any surviving grads.  You may list me on your website and list my E-Mail address also.  Hope it reaches someone I knew as a youngster.

Marge (Folmer) Loeffel
Dear Andree, I would be glad to have you put my name and e-mail address on your website.  I do not have a website.  I graduated in 1947 and have attended two or three reunions.
My husband Bob and I had seven children and now have 17 Grandchildren and two Great. We moved to Texas in 1975 and live in Missouri City, a suburb of Houston.
We love to  travel and have been to Europe twice, and I won a cruise to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, etc. Took our kids to Hawaii and California and New York, Virginia, D. C. etc.
We have three girls who live in Denver still.  We come to Denver every summer.  Had a family reunion last year in Denver.
Glad to hear from you and feel I will always be linked to South  Feel I have roots in a way.  Thank you for inviting me to link up.

Lawrence
Hi, I am Lawrence's daughter, Michelle.  I just wanted to thank you, on behalf of my dad, for your kind invitation.  He's very pleased to be contact by you!  He's 73 years-old now (graduated from South in '48) and a Hospice patient living in my husband's and my home.  I enrolled him on www.classmates.com because his mobility is so limited and I thought he might find some old friends with which he could communicate.  Please feel free to use this email address on your site for him.

I would love to include some info about him:  As I said, he graduated from South in '48, served four years in the Marines right out of HS, attended two years at Colorado School of Mines, and married my mother in '53 (she was a North grad).  They had 3 daughters (my dad said his epitaph should read, "Father of Daughters and This is the First Chance I've Had to Rest"), me being the oldest.  He's worked for Martin-Marietta, TRW, and retired from Lockheed in Houston.  One of his accomplishments he's most proud of (besides successfully raising three pretty darn good daughters -- haha) is that
he's co-author of the first Guidance and Control Data Book for NASA He's also owned two successful television repair businesses and a vending machine business in Grand Junction, CO, after retiring.  Although, he was  intrigued with communism during his HS years, he's now an avid Rush fan and describes himself as a "Right Winged Radical Nut."  He was hot on the campaign trail with Scott McGinnis in '92.  His hobbies (in the past, of course) included flying gliders, hunting and fishing, horseback riding, archery, reading (political stuff), and traveling.  He's been a great dad, he's a fascinating and brilliant man, and I'm very proud he's been my dad.  Or, can't you tell???

Oops, did you say "short?"  Sorry about that.  But thanks again for contacting my dad.  You really made his day!

Best wishes,
Michelle
