Bette Lee (Bates) Dallison
Bette Lee Dallison died of natural causes Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at The
Valley Inn in Mancos. She was 82.
Mrs. Dallison was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Greeley, the daughter of Fred and
Guertha Edmonds Bates, both of whom were deaf. They later moved to Denver
where she graduated from South High School in 1939.
While attending Denver University, she was active in Sigma Kappa and
graduated with a degree in education in 1943. After graduation, Mrs.
Dallison taught deaf children in Greeley, Craig and Denver.
She married Sam James Dallison on Aug. 8, 1945, in Denver. While her husband
was employed with Exxon Corp., they lived in many parts of the world,
including Colorado, Wyoming, England and Florida. After his retirement, they
moved back to Denver, and recently returned to Durango to be with family.
Mrs. Dallison was always active in the Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild
of the Church. She considered herself a pioneer skier in the 1930s,
frequenting Berthoud Pass, Aspen and Steamboat Springs. She loved the
outdoors, travel, antiques and needlepoint. Most of all, she enjoyed
spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Dallison is survived by her husband, Sam Dallison of Mancos; her
daughter, Lynn Harpel of Hesperus; her son, Dave Dallison of Bayfield; and
six grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held by her family at a later date.

Margaret
(Babcock) Dutell
Margaret was born April 3, 1921 in Denver, the daughter of James and May
Babcock. She married Hubert B. Dutell on December 12, 1948 in Denver.
Survived by two sons, Walter B. (Janice) of Galesburg IL, Mark H. (Maureen)
of Denver; three grandchildren, Christine, Brian, and Jason Dutell; also
surviving are three sisters, Dorothy (Clinton) Biggs of Grand Junction, CO,
Elizabeth Echternacht of Belmont, CA and Barbara Phelps of Denver; one
sister, Jane Hollingsworth preceded her in death. She graduated from South
High School, Denver, CO and attended Colorado State University at Ft.
Collins, CO. She was a member of Chapter A.N.P.E.O., Galesburg IL, and
Cottage Hospital Service Guild. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10
a.m. in the Ivy Chapel with entombment in Fairmount Mausoleum. Contributions

Galen Parks
Galen Parks, 81, of Loveland, Colo., died Dec. 9, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 6, 1920, in Ord, Neb., to Harold W. and Edna (Huddleston)
Parks. His family moved to Colorado when he was 5 years old. He graduated
from South High School in Denver and earned a bachelor’s degree in finance,
business, and banking. He moved to Loveland in 1948. He served his country
in the Army Air Forces during World War II.
Galen married Maryjean Thomsen on May 22, 1948, in Denver.
She died in 1998.
He was vice president of First National Bank in Loveland for 12 years, then
was associated with American Realty for a number of years. In his lifetime,
he was a banker, pilot, real estate agent and even joined the ice making
machinery business. He was an avid golfer and instrumental in the
development of the Loveland Municipal Golf Course. He was also instrumental
in developing tennis facilities at Loveland High School; was among those who
founded the Sweetheart Open Waterskiing Tournament and helped implement a
midget football league in Loveland.
He played golf, racquetball and tennis and enjoyed water and snow skiing. He
also coached midget football, baseball and swimming teams. He was active in
numerous civic organizations.
Galen is survived by two sons, Galen S. Parks and wife Kay and Randy J.
Parks, all of Loveland; and one granddaughter, Kellee Jean Parks of
Loveland.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Memorial services were held Jan. 1 in Loveland.
Memorial contributions may be sent in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home
to the Galen G. Parks Memorial Fund. Memorial funds will be used for a
sitting stone at Lake Loveland.
